How to fix it

  1. Update both Roughly Enough Items (REI) and Applied Energistics 2 (along with Cloth Config and Architectury API) to their newest releases for your exact Minecraft 1.20.x version.
  2. If updating both mods does not stop the crash on Forge 1.20.1, switch your recipe viewer from REI to JEI (Just Enough Items) or EMI, which support AE2 terminal search syncing without this obfuscation bug.
  3. If you are playing a modpack that requires REI, try installing REI Plugin Compatibilities (REIPC) or downgrading Applied Energistics 2 to version 15.1.1 before opening the terminal.
