How to fix it

1. Check your game version first: if you are playing Minecraft 1.16.5, open your mods folder, delete any Sodium or Fabric API jar files labeled for 1.17 or 1.18 (such as mc1.18.2), and download the versions specifically built for 1.16.5.
2. If you are playing Minecraft 1.17, install Java 16; if you are playing Minecraft 1.18 to 1.20.4, install Java 17 (or Java 21 for 1.20.5 and newer).
3. Open your launcher's installation or instance settings, find the Java Executable option, and either reset it to use the official bundled Java runtime or point it directly to the newly installed Java 16/17 javaw.exe instead of Java 1.8.
4. Save your launcher profile settings and start the game again.
