Mod conflictsSodium Crash: Tried to mark light data as ready for chunk before it loaded
What it looks like in the log
java.lang.IllegalStateException: Tried to mark light data as ready for chunk [x, y] but it hasn't been loaded yet`
How to fix it
- Update Sodium to the latest version available for your Minecraft release (0.4.3 or newer), where out-of-order chunk light packets are handled safely instead of crashing the game.
- If you use Sodium add-ons or shader mods such as Iris, Sodium Extra, or Reese's Sodium Options, update them alongside Sodium so their versions remain compatible.
- Remove or update lighting and protocol mods like Phosphor, Starlight, or ViaBackwards/ViaFabric, as they frequently trigger out-of-order light updates when teleporting or respawning.
- If you are locked to an older Minecraft 1.18.2 or 1.19 modpack version that cannot update Sodium, avoid using spectator teleportation to distant players on multiplayer servers.
