Sodium Crash: CloudRenderer.rebuildGeometry because "meshData" is null

What it looks like in the log

java.lang.NullPointerException: Cannot invoke "net.minecraft.class_9801.method_60822()" because "meshData" is null

How to fix it

  1. Open Minecraft, go to Options > Resource Packs, and disable your active resource packs (especially realistic or ray-tracing packs like Legendary RT Textures) to confirm which pack causes the crash.
  2. If the game crashes before you can reach a world, turn off clouds in Options > Video Settings > Quality (or General) by setting Clouds to Off.
  3. To keep using the problematic resource pack with clouds enabled, open the resource pack .zip file or folder, navigate to assets/minecraft/textures/environment/, and delete clouds.png.
  4. Update both Sodium and the affected resource pack to their latest versions, as newer releases include fixes for empty cloud textures.
