Sodium Video Settings Crash: Maximum Value Must Be Greater Than Minimum Value

What it looks like in the log

java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: The maximum value must be greater than the minimum value

How to fix it

  1. Remove any utility clients, hacked clients, or standalone fullbright/gamma mods, as they commonly inject out-of-bounds slider values that fail Sodium's strict validation.
  2. Update Sodium and any Sodium add-on mods (such as Reese's Sodium Options and Sodium Extra) so all of them match your Minecraft version and are built for the same Sodium release.
  3. Maximize the Minecraft window or press F11 to switch to fullscreen before clicking Video Settings, in case a tiny window resolution caused the maximum GUI scale slider value to drop to the minimum.
  4. Delete options.txt and the config/sodium-options.json file (plus config/sodium-extra-options.json if installed) in your Minecraft game directory to reset any corrupted video slider limits.
