Missing dependencies

Black Screen & Log Spam: Resource not found: /assets/minecraft/textures/font/ascii.png

What it looks like in the log

java.lang.RuntimeException: Resource not found: /assets/minecraft/textures/font/ascii.png

How to fix it

  1. Open your launcher log or latest.log and scroll up to the exact line right before the first ascii.png error, looking for 'Found 1 error(s) during startup:'.
  2. Install the missing mod listed in that message—in most cases, you need to download and install Architectury API or Cloth Config API for Roughly Enough Items (REI).
  3. Update Quilt Loader to version 0.18.1 or newer in your launcher's instance settings so pre-launch warning screens can access vanilla fonts without freezing on a black screen.
