Launcher problemsFabric Crash: Could Not Create Directory (UnixException: Invalid Argument)
What it looks like in the log
sun.nio.fs.UnixException @ [net.fabricmc]
How to fix it
- Open your Minecraft Launcher, go to the Installations tab, edit the crashing profile, and click More Options to view JVM Arguments.
- Remove any -Dfabric.addMods=... argument pointing to a Windows C:\ path, or delete the copied Iris/Fabric installation profile entirely.
- If you want to reinstall using the Iris Installer on Linux, make sure full desktop Java (such as java-21-openjdk rather than the headless package) is installed, then run the installer JAR again so it generates valid Linux paths.
- Alternatively, install a clean Fabric profile for your Minecraft version and place the Iris and Sodium JAR files directly into your Linux .minecraft/mods folder.
