Mod conflictsIris Shaders Crash When Rendering Entities in Menus (PipelineManager.getPipeline is null)
What the log looks like
java\.lang\.NullPointerException: Cannot invoke "net\.coderbot\.iris\.pipeline\.WorldRenderingPipeline\.shouldDisableVanillaEntityShadows\(\)" because the return value of "net\.coderbot\.iris\.pipeline\.PipelineManager\.getPipeline\(\)" is null
handler\$[a-z0-9]+\$iris\$maybeSuppressEntityShadow
How to fix it
- Update Iris Shaders (and Sodium, if installed as a separate jar) to the latest version available for your Minecraft version, where Iris safely handles entity rendering outside of a world.
- Install the Indium mod if you are running Iris with Sodium (note that early Iris 1.17 builds bundle Sodium internally) alongside UI mods that rely on the Fabric Rendering API.
- If you must stay on an older version of Iris, load into a singleplayer world before opening the skin preview or character customization menu so the rendering pipeline is already active.
