Mod conflictsjava.lang.NullPointerException: Rendering screen
What the log looks like
java\.lang\.NullPointerException: Rendering screen
The game crashed whilst rendering screen
How to fix it
- Open the latest file in your `.minecraft/crash-reports/` folder and read the very first `at ...` line under `java.lang.NullPointerException: Rendering screen` to identify which mod owns the crashing screen (for example, `appeng.client.gui` indicates Applied Energistics 2).
- If you are on Fabric using Sodium (prior to Sodium 0.6) and crash whenever REI, JEI, or modded UI items appear on screen, install **Indium** and **Fabric API** to provide missing Fabric Rendering API support.
- If the crash occurs when opening or auto-crafting in a modded block interface, remove or disable inventory utility mods such as **Inventory Sorter** that inject sorting buttons or slot hooks into unfamiliar screens.
- Update both the mod shown at the top of the stack trace and your recipe viewer mod (**Roughly Enough Items**, **Just Enough Items**, or **EMI**) to their latest releases for your Minecraft version.
- Temporarily disable custom GUI resource packs from the main menu before loading your world to rule out incompatible container screen layouts.
