Mod conflictsSodium Crash When Falling Into the Void (ChunkRenderColumn Index -1)
What the log looks like
java\.lang\.ArrayIndexOutOfBoundsException: Index -1 out of bounds for length 16\s+at me\.jellysquid\.mods\.sodium\.client\.render\.chunk\.ChunkRenderColumn\.getRender
How to fix it
- Open your instance's mods folder and remove the outdated sodium-fabric-mc1.16.4-0.1.1-SNAPSHOT (or custom fork) JAR file.
- Download and install the latest official Sodium release for Minecraft 1.16.5 (Sodium 0.2.0 or newer), which includes the bounds check fix for negative Y coordinates.
- If you were using a custom Sodium fork for Immersive Portals, update Immersive Portals to the latest 1.16.5 version that natively supports official Sodium releases.
- If your game crashes immediately upon joining because your player is already saved below Y=0 in the void, temporarily remove Sodium from the mods folder, load the world to get above Y=0 or respawn, and then put the updated Sodium JAR back.
