Mod conflictsSodium / Embeddium: java.lang.RuntimeException: Chunk build failed
What it looks like in the log
java.lang.RuntimeException: Chunk build failed
How to fix it
- Open the full crash report inside your `crash-reports` folder and scroll down past the main stack trace until you find `Caused by:`—the mod package or block class listed right below `Caused by:` is the actual culprit.
- If `mixins.oculus` or `iris` appears in the crash report, update both Embeddium/Sodium and Oculus/Iris to versions explicitly marked compatible with each other, or temporarily remove Oculus/Iris to confirm the conflict.
- If you are running Sodium 0.5.x or older on Fabric with mods that add custom blocks, install Indium so mods using the Fabric Rendering API do not crash the chunk builder.
- Disable active resource packs and try lowering `Chunk Update Threads` in Video Settings -> Performance to rule out broken custom block models or multithreaded meshing instability.
- Before reporting the crash to a mod author, check the `.jar` filename in the trace (`embeddium` vs `sodium`) so you report it to the correct project, and always upload the entire crash report including the `Caused by:` section.
