How to fix it

  1. Update Applied Energistics 2 to the latest build for your Minecraft version (8.4.7 or newer on 1.16.5), which includes a startup recovery check that automatically re-adds the missing spatial dimension.
  2. If this is a newly created singleplayer world, save and quit to the title screen, then load the world a second time so AE2's dimension fixup runs and registers the spatial dimension.
  3. If the error persists on a dedicated server using the Biomes O' Plenty world type, back up and download the world to singleplayer, load and save it once with the latest AE2 installed to repair level.dat, and upload it back to the server.
  4. When starting a brand-new server where Biomes O' Plenty prevents the dimension from generating, either pre-generate the save in singleplayer as above or set level-type to default in server.properties.
