How to fix it

  1. Close any running ATLauncher or Java processes in Task Manager.
  2. Back up your `Instances` (or `instances`) and `saves` folders inside your existing ATLauncher directory so you do not lose your modpacks and worlds.
  3. Delete the corrupted ATLauncher installation files and launcher executable/JAR.
  4. Download the latest official installer or standalone executable from https://atlauncher.com/downloads and perform a clean installation in a user-writable folder (avoid placing standalone ATLauncher directly inside `Program Files`).
  5. Copy your backed-up `Instances` folder into the freshly installed ATLauncher directory and launch ATLauncher again.
