Graphics and driversGLFW Error 0x1000C on Wayland: Platform Does Not Provide Window Position
What it looks like in the log
java.lang.IllegalStateException: GLFW error before init: [0x1000C]Wayland: The platform does not provide the window position
How to fix it
- If you manually forced native Wayland in your launcher—such as enabling 'Use system installation of GLFW' in Prism Launcher or adding '-Dorg.lwjgl.glfw.libname' to your JVM arguments—disable that setting and remove the JVM argument so the game runs under XWayland.
- Open 'config/fml.toml' inside your Minecraft instance folder, set 'earlyWindowControl = false', and save the file to disable the Forge/NeoForge early loading screen that triggers the window position check.
- Make sure XWayland is installed on your Linux distribution (for example, 'xorg-x11-server-Xwayland' on Fedora or 'xwayland' on Debian/Ubuntu/Arch) so Minecraft can use the X11 compatibility layer.
- If you are playing a newer version with LWJGL 3.4+ where bundled GLFW selects Wayland automatically, run Minecraft under an X11/Xorg desktop session or unset 'WAYLAND_DISPLAY' in the launcher environment variables (with a valid 'XAUTHORITY' cookie present) to force the X11 backend.
