Crash When Clicking 'Copy Info' in Chat After Shader Error (String.isEmpty is null)

What it looks like in the log

java.lang.NullPointerException: Cannot invoke "String.isEmpty()" because "$$0" is null

How to fix it

  1. Do not click the 'Copy Info' link in chat when a shader fails to load; instead, open your '.minecraft/logs/latest.log' file directly to read the actual shader stack trace.
  2. Switch to a different shader pack or disable shaders in Options -> Video Settings -> Shader Packs, especially if you are on macOS using a shader that requires OpenGL 4.3+ features (such as Photon).
  3. Update Iris Shaders and Sodium to the latest available versions for your Minecraft release so null shader error messages are handled safely.
  4. If you need detailed shader debugging output for a bug report, enable Iris debug mode in '.minecraft/config/iris.properties' and check 'latest.log' after reloading shaders.
