Graphics and driversShader Program Linking Failed (Sodium / Iris)
What the log looks like
java\.lang\.RuntimeException: Shader program linking failed, see log for details
Shader program linking failed, see log for details\s+at me\.jellysquid\.mods\.sodium\.client\.gl\.shader\.GlProgram\$Builder\.build
How to fix it
- Open your .minecraft/logs/latest.log file and check the lines immediately above 'Shader program linking failed' to read the exact OpenGL compiler error from your graphics driver.
- Download and install the latest graphics driver directly from NVIDIA, AMD, or Intel (use the Clean Installation option if available) rather than using Windows Update.
- If the crash happened after selecting a shader pack, open .minecraft/config/iris.properties in a text editor and change enableShaders=true to enableShaders=false, or test a lighter shader pack if you have an older GPU.
- Update Sodium, Iris, Indium, and Sodium Extra to their latest builds for your Minecraft version so you get recent driver-bug workarounds.
- On laptops or dual-GPU PCs, open Windows Settings > System > Display > Graphics and set your Java executable (javaw.exe) to High Performance so Minecraft uses your dedicated GPU.
