How to fix it

  1. Open your Minecraft mods folder and delete the outdated Iris Shaders JAR file (for example, iris-mc1.18-1.1.3.jar when playing on 1.18.1).
  2. Download and install the latest Iris Shaders version built specifically for your exact Minecraft version (such as 1.18.1 or 1.18.2) from Modrinth or CurseForge.
  3. Verify that your installed Sodium JAR also supports your exact Minecraft sub-version, update it if necessary, and launch the game again.
