Mod conflictsNeoForge Crash: Trying to access unbound value: ResourceKey
What it looks like in the log
java.lang.NullPointerException: Trying to access unbound value: ResourceKey[minecraft:block / aether:skyroot_log]
How to fix it
- Open your full logs/latest.log or the newest file in crash-reports/ and look above Minecraft.emergencySaveAndCrash and ClientHooks.firePlayerLogout to find the first error that actually started the crash.
- If an earlier crash is present in latest.log, fix the mod conflict or version mismatch shown there—for example, make sure rendering mods and libraries like Sodium, Veil, and Sable match the exact versions required for each other and your NeoForge version, rather than downgrading Sodium to an incompatible alpha.
- Do not remove the mod named inside ResourceKey[...] (such as aether) unless Trying to access unbound value is the very first exception in latest.log with no emergencySaveAndCrash above it.
- If Trying to access unbound value really is the first error in the full log, update NeoForge and the mod listed immediately below DeferredHolder.get in the stack trace, or remove that mod if it was built for a different NeoForge release.
