Reading the logReportedException: Exception generating new chunk
What the log looks like
net\.minecraft\.ReportedException: Exception generating new chunk
How to fix it
- Open your `latest.log` or crash report and scroll below `net.minecraft.ReportedException: Exception generating new chunk` to locate the `Caused by:` line, which names the real error and the mod, plugin, or vanilla system that failed.
- If `Caused by:` shows `Asynchronous entity add!` or names a plugin (such as a random-teleport plugin using `getChunkAtAsync` or a custom generator calling `generateTree`), update or remove that plugin and keep random-teleport radius limits well below extreme coordinates (under 100,000 blocks).
- If `Caused by:` points to `JigsawPlacement`, `JigsawBlock`, or `StructureTemplate` (for example, `"rotation" is null`), remove or fix recently added structure datapacks and worldgen mods that include malformed `.nbt` structure files.
- If `Caused by:` only lists `net.minecraft.world.level.levelgen` classes (such as `Aquifer` or `NoiseBasedChunkGenerator`) with no custom datapacks or plugins involved, update your Paper, Sponge, or mod loader server JAR to the latest build for your Minecraft version.
