Reading the logReportedException: Rendering screen (GUI Crash)
What the log looks like
net\.minecraft\.util\.ReportedException: Rendering screen
Description: Rendering screen
How to fix it
- Open your crash report or `latest.log` and find the `Caused by:` line below `ReportedException: Rendering screen`; read the first mod package name in that stack trace (for example, `notenoughupdates` or `mezz.jei`) to see what failed while drawing.
- Check the `Screen name:` entry under `-- Screen render details --` in the crash report (such as `GuiContainerCreative` or a mod's recipe screen) to see which inventory, tab, or menu was open when the client crashed.
- Update the GUI, inventory, or recipe-viewer mod named in the `Caused by:` trace (such as NotEnoughUpdates, JEI, REI, or EMI) to a version matching your exact Minecraft and mod loader version.
- If the `Caused by:` trace shows `NullPointerException` inside vanilla tooltip or recipe classes (such as `FurnaceRecipes` or `GuiContainerCreative`), avoid hovering the offending creative tab or recipe and remove or update the mod or recipe script that added the broken item or smelting recipe.
