How to fix it

  1. Remove Not Enough Crashes (notenoughcrashes) from your mods folder if installed, as it corrupts Sodium's chunk state after catching a prior error and hides the real first crash.
  2. Delete any unofficial or custom Sodium fork JARs from your mods folder and install the latest official builds of both Sodium and Iris from Modrinth or CurseForge for your exact Minecraft version.
  3. If the game still crashes after removing Not Enough Crashes, check the new crash report in your crash-reports folder to find the underlying error that occurred first.
