How to fix it

  1. Update Sodium to the latest stable release for your Minecraft version (for Minecraft 1.18.1, use Sodium 0.4.0 final or newer instead of alpha builds).
  2. If you also use Sodium add-ons such as Iris Shaders, Indium, or Sodium Extra, update them at the same time so they match the newer Sodium version.
  3. If you are locked to an older modpack version and cannot update Sodium, temporarily remove lighting or packet-altering client mods, or spawn in the Overworld before entering a Paper server portal.
