Mod conflictsSodium Crash: Tried to mark light data as ready for chunk before loading
What it looks like in the log
java.lang.IllegalStateException: Tried to mark light data as ready for chunk [-13, -<so>] but it hasn't been loaded yet
How to fix it
- Update Sodium (or Embeddium/Rubidium on Forge) to the latest version available for your Minecraft release, as newer builds safely ignore out-of-order light packets instead of crashing.
- If you are playing on a server that uses FartherViewDistance or a similar view-distance plugin, lower your client Render Distance in Video Settings to match the server's normal view distance.
- If you have client-side chunk caching mods installed (like Bobby or Farsight), update them to a version explicitly compatible with your exact Sodium build or temporarily remove them.
- For server administrators: update FartherViewDistance to its latest release or disable asynchronous light packet sending in the plugin's configuration.
