PerformanceSodium Crash: Tried to mark light data as ready for chunk before loading
What it looks like in the log
java.lang.IllegalStateException: Tried to mark light data as ready for chunk [-<so>, 83] but it hasn't been loaded yet
How to fix it
- Update Sodium to the latest release available for your exact Minecraft version (such as the latest 0.4.x patch for 1.18.2 or newer releases), where chunk light desynchronization is handled safely.
- Update any installed lighting mods (such as Starlight or Phosphor) to their newest versions so they do not send out-of-order light updates to Sodium.
- Remove the 'Not Enough Crashes' mod if you have it installed, because continuing to play after an initial world error leaves Sodium's chunk tracker out of sync and causes repeat crashes.
- If you cannot change mod versions on a modpack, lower your Render Distance in Video Settings before teleporting long distances on multiplayer servers to reduce queued chunk updates.
