How to fix it

  1. Open your Minecraft instance's 'mods' folder and check the version of your Sodium '.jar' file.
  2. Delete the outdated Sodium alpha or early 0.4.0 build (for example, 'sodium-fabric-mc1.18-0.4.0-alpha...').
  3. Download and install the latest stable release of Sodium for your exact Minecraft version from Modrinth or CurseForge, where chunk light tracking was fixed.
  4. If you also use Sodium add-ons such as Iris Shaders, Indium, or Reese's Sodium Options, update them at the same time so they match the newer Sodium version.
