Mod conflictsSodium Crash: Translucent Sorting "centroid" is null (DynamicTopoData)
What the log looks like
java\.lang\.NullPointerException: Cannot invoke "org\.joml\.Vector3fc\.distanceSquared\(org\.joml\.Vector3fc\)" because "centroid" is null
net\.caffeinemc\.mods\.sodium\.client\.render\.chunk\.translucent_sorting\.data\.DynamicTopoData\.distanceSortDirect
How to fix it
- Open Options -> Video Settings -> Shader Packs from the main menu before joining the world and toggle shaders off (or press 'K' in-game before chunks load) to confirm the active shader pack is triggering the crash.
- Disable any active resource packs in Options -> Resource Packs that modify block models or glass/foliage transparency, then rejoin the world to test if a resource pack is responsible.
- Update both Sodium and Iris Shaders to their newest available builds for your Minecraft version, as CaffeineMC actively patches translucent sorting edge cases in newer releases.
- If the crash persists on the latest versions, switch to a different shader pack or disable custom block translucency options inside your shader pack's settings menu.
