Mod conflictsFlywheel & Iris Crash: Cannot use BufferBuilder with format
What it looks like in the log
java.lang.RuntimeException: Cannot use BufferBuilder with format: 9 elements: Position=3,Position,Float Color=4,Vertex Color,Unsigned Byte UV0=2,UV,Fl
How to fix it
- Update Iris Shaders to version 1.2.1 or newer (and update from Minecraft 1.18.1 to 1.18.2+ if needed, as the fix was not backported to 1.18.1).
- If you want Flywheel instancing to work while shaders are active on supported versions, install the 'Iris & Oculus Flywheel Compat' addon mod matching your Minecraft and Create versions.
- If you cannot update your mods, disable Flywheel's custom rendering before placing Create blocks by running the command `/flywheel backend off` in-game.
- If your world crashes immediately upon loading because a Create block is already placed, open your `config` folder, edit `flywheel-client.toml` (or `flywheel.json` on Fabric), and set the `backend` option to `"OFF"`.
