Iris Failed to Create Shader Rendering Pipeline (ParseCancellationException)

What it looks like in the log

org.antlr.v4.runtime.misc.ParseCancellationException: program "gbuffers_basic.fsh" line <so>:0 no viable alternative at input 'sldakfnge\nvec3'`

How to fix it

  1. Open Options > Video Settings > Shader Packs (or press O in-game) and switch to a different shader pack to confirm the issue is caused by that specific pack.
  2. Update both Iris (or Oculus on Forge) and the affected shader pack to the latest versions made for your Minecraft release.
  3. Reset the shader pack's configuration by deleting its matching .txt settings file inside your .minecraft/shaderpacks folder, in case a specific combination of toggled shader options generated broken GLSL code.
  4. If you are developing or editing the shader pack yourself, open the shader file and inspect the line number shown in the ParseCancellationException (and any files #include-d into that program) to fix the syntax error near the quoted input text.
