Iris Shaders Crash When Importing Shader Pack Settings (BaseOptionElementWidget NullPointerException)

What it looks like in the log

java.lang.NullPointerException: Cannot invoke "net.minecraft.class_5348.method_27658(net.minecraft.class_5348$class_5246, net.minecraft.class_2583)" b

How to fix it

  1. Relaunch Minecraft—this crash is a temporary menu race condition and does not permanently corrupt your game config.
  2. When using the 'Import Settings from File' button in the Iris Shader Pack Settings screen, wait 1 to 2 seconds for the profile name on screen to finish updating before clicking 'Apply'.
  3. To apply custom shader settings without using the in-game import button, place the settings .txt file directly into your .minecraft/shaderpacks/ folder and rename it to match your shader pack file plus .txt (for example, ComplementaryUnbound_r5.3.zip.txt), then reload shaders in-game.
  4. Update Iris Shaders and Sodium to the latest available release for your Minecraft version to pick up GUI stability fixes.
