Iris Shaderpack Disabled: GLSL Source Pre-Processing Failed (Bad Token)

What it looks like in the log

org.anarres.cpp.InternalException: Bad token [ @<so>,0]:" "

How to fix it

  1. Open Options > Video Settings > Shader Packs in-game and switch to a modern Iris-compatible shaderpack (such as Complementary, BSL, or an updated Chocapic13 release) instead of the unsupported pack.
  2. Delete the broken shaderpack .zip from your shaderpacks folder and re-download a fresh copy from an official source like Modrinth or CurseForge to rule out a corrupted download or broken fan edit.
  3. Update Iris (or Oculus on Forge) and Sodium to the newest release available for your Minecraft version, as later versions include broader compatibility fixes for legacy shader syntax.
  4. If you manually edited any .glsl, .vsh, or .fsh files inside the shaderpack, re-save them in UTF-8 (without BOM) encoding and strip out any stray invisible or non-ASCII characters at the start of the files.
