Iris Shaders Failed to Load: Reference to Unstable Internal Interfaces (iris_Position)

What it looks like in the log

java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: Detected a potential reference to unstable and internal Iris shader interfaces (iris_, irisMain and moj_import). V

How to fix it

  1. Test a second, well-known shader pack first: if only one specific shader pack fails, update that shader pack or switch to another pack because it directly uses forbidden `iris_` internal variables.
  2. If every shader pack fails with `Violation: iris_Position`, update Iris and Sodium to their newest available builds, or downgrade Iris to an older release prior to 1.10.9 where shader compilation worked on your GPU.
  3. If you are playing on a laptop with both Intel HD Graphics and a dedicated NVIDIA or AMD GPU, open Windows Settings -> System -> Display -> Graphics and set your Java executable (`javaw.exe`) to High Performance so Minecraft does not run on the Intel integrated GPU.
  4. Update your Intel, AMD, or NVIDIA graphics drivers from the manufacturer's website, or toggle shaders off in Options -> Video Settings -> Shader Packs until you swap Iris versions.
