How to fix it

  1. Check the first `at ...` line right below `java.lang.NoSuchFieldError: field_23212` in your crash report to confirm the offending mod (for example, `eu.midnightdust.visualoverhaul` means Visual Overhaul).
  2. Download and install the latest release of Visual Overhaul (or the identified rendering mod) compiled specifically for your exact Minecraft version from Modrinth or CurseForge, deleting the older `.jar` from your `mods` folder.
  3. If no newer build exists for your Minecraft version yet, temporarily remove that mod from your `mods` folder so your world can load without crashing.
