Iris Shaders Error: Framebuffer must have at least one color buffer

What it looks like in the log

java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: Framebuffer must have at least one color buffer

How to fix it

  1. Press Esc in-game, go to Options > Video Settings > Shader Packs, and switch to an Iris-compatible shader pack (such as Complementary, BSL, or newer releases of Chocapic13).
  2. Update Iris Shaders (or Oculus on Forge) and Sodium (or Embeddium) to the latest version available for your Minecraft version, as newer Iris releases include workarounds for legacy shaders.
  3. Update the shader pack itself if a newer version is available from the author on Modrinth or CurseForge.
  4. If you only experience this error in a specific dimension like The End, press 'K' (default Iris toggle hotkey) to temporarily turn off shaders while exploring that dimension.
